Our funeral directors are available to discuss funeral service arrangements, either in the comfort of your own home, or at our funeral premises.

- Personalised video recording of the service, with online viewing via Dropbox (available from any venue)
- Livestream of service through One Room (available from our Chapel)
- After-service reception in our Catering Lounge
- Registration of the death, and obtaining of official New Zealand Death Certificate
What Do I Do When a Person Dies?
At home or at a rest home
We suggest that you call the funeral director as soon as possible, keeping in mind that the funeral director cannot transfer and prepare(embalm) anyone until a doctor has issued a ‘Cause of Death Certificate’. Usually the funeral director will call the doctor when their surgery opens. In most cases 8.30am on most weekday mornings. For this reason most families wait until after 7.30am before contacting the funeral director. Should there be any serious concerns however, we do have staff on call to speak to you at any time.
At the hospital
The hospital staff will ask you to contact the funeral director with a mind to having the person transferred into our care. The doctor at the hospital who cared for the person will talk to you and issue a ‘Cause of Death Certificate’ before the transfer and preparation (embalming) can take place.
When the Coroner becomes involved
The coroner will become involved when the doctor is unable to be contacted or a doctor is unable to issue a ‘Cause of Death Certificate’. All deaths that are unexpected, unexplained or of a violent nature must be reported to the Coroner. Your funeral director will liaise with the Coroner on your behalf to organise the release and transfer of your loved one into our care.
