HARRIS: Ivan John (Barney)

It is with great sadness we wish to advise the passing of our brother Barney at his home at Centre Bush. Loved son of the late Harry and May Harris. Dearly loved brother and brother-in-law of Viv* and Rae*, Sam* and Lorraine, Esther* and Mick* McGill, Ayson and Bev, Harry* and Jill, and Marion Hollows. Loved uncle of his many nieces and nephews. (*Denotes deceased.)

Please join the family at the Winton Presbyterian Church Hall, Meldrum Street on Monday 20th March at 1.00pm for Barney’s memorial service to share memories. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Invercargill Cancer Society would be appreciated and may be left at the service. Messages to C/- 97 McKinnon Loop, Te Anau 9600

Hey Barn, There’s so many great memories with ya 50 plus years ago, taking us fishing at the Oreti got us a trout and a eel, letting us burn around on your Land Rover round the paddock at Centre Bush. Losing all your golf balls you let us hit anywhere and letting us try on all of your military gear for a photo. And those Dagwood sandwiches that were an inch thick ,at least. Wow, still love them to this day. And that crate of fizzy drinks in the pantry topped it all off! I loved all the stories you shared on growing up and the jobs and places where you worked, you were a hard worker Barn and the best Uncle and a legend. I always wanted you to meet Jen. Your a popular name in this household and will always be. Thanks for everything Barn…a very sad loss and for me, that you were alone. Love you Barn, God bless ya, Jeff and Jen

Well Uncle Barney, We are flying back to auckland today. Will cherish your beloved army hat we were lucky to be given. What a beautiful send off with many people that you had crossed paths with in your time on earth. A well respected man. I hope you are at peace with family who passed before you.. I will cherish the memories and continue to keep your memory alive through my children. You'll always be in my heart, never forgotten. Love you very much uncle Barney. Until we meet again one day. xox
