Phone: 032367586

Winton & Districts Funeral Services is located at 306 Great North Road, Winton. First built by Ian and Heather Rizzi in 1981, then owned by Wilson Funeral Services until February 2012, the new funeral home continues the tradition of dedicated, locally-based care for bereaved families in the Central, Northern and Western Districts of Southland.

The funeral home is managed by Averill Butson, Registered Funeral Director, and assisted by Dave Fraser who is also a registered Funeral Director. Averill lives locally and Dave lives in Balfour. The funeral home facilities include an arrangement lounge, office, viewing room, casket selection room and Mortuary/Preparation room, and the vehicles include a late model Ford ceremonial hearse. Averill and Dave welcome any interested person to call in to the premises during usual business hours, or if the premises are temporarily unattended they may be contacted on the premises phone, 03-2367586.

Bereavement Support Group meetings are currently being planned, as part of our continuing commitment to the support of bereaved families in the Winton and Districts’ communities.

Advice is also offered in regards to the supply and maintenance of lettered headstones, plaques, granite panels, as well as refurbishment of lettering and repair of concrete work over graves.

As well as the completion of all funeral service needs as they arise, Averill and Dave are able to discuss, on a completely confidential basis, any aspects of funeral service that people may wish to have recorded for their own future services. A written record of one’s wishes is always helpful to the family at the time of bereavement. For those who would like to make a prepayment towards their funeral expenses, the prepayment will be forwarded to the FDANZ Prepaid Funeral Trust, who will manage the funds and issue the certificate of membership. The funds will be invested conservatively, with a small but guaranteed rate of interest, and at some stage in the future when the funds are required for the funeral expenses, the account balance will be forwarded directly to the funeral home.

Winton & Districts Funeral Services is a division of J Fraser and Sons Ltd, Invercargill. J Fraser and Son’s Managing Director, Wilson Fraser, has a commitment to continuing training and staff support, and Averill and Dave are a valued part of the total team. All client families may be assured of the professional and dedicated care in regards to the funeral service arrangements and to the respectful care of their loved one.
