To the family of Maureen Wells,
My name is David Wells and Maureen was married to my late step-father Eric Walter Wells when they lived at Woodend outside Kaiapoi and where Eric died. Eric and I were never close due to personal family reasons so there was very little family contact but I was happy that he had met and married Maureen even though I never was told they had met and married. Sad really. He certainly needed someone like her. She always struck me as a strong, likeable woman and I visited them there a few times and also visited Maureen many times when she lived in Kaiapoi but lost track of her over time.
Sadly this was and still is a legacy of the wider Wells families who were never really known to want to be close or keep in touch with one another.
I got on well with Maureen and liked her and was shocked to read of her passing in the Christchurch paper yesterday and, as she has had her wishes carried out for her private service and cremation, I can only offer you, her extended family, my sincere condolences in your loss of a good woman. I pray she will be fondly remember and may she rest in peace.
With sincere condolences,
David Wells, Christchurch
