BECKETT, Donald Ian (Ian)

After a courageous battle, Ian passed away peacefully at home, on Friday, 9 June 2023, aged 70 years.

Much loved father and father-in-law of Graeme and Melissa, grandad of Oakley. Son of the late Albert (Cecil) and Alice.  Loved brother and brother-in-law of Beverley, Margaret, Warren, Maureen and Donald, Tommy and the late Annette, Peter, Pat, Ross, Robyn, Susan, John, the late Cathy, and the late Grant. A fondly remembered uncle. A dear friend to Ross, Al and Denise, Liz, Mark and Vanya, Sally, Bill, Jack, Phil, Ronnie, Johnny, Jim, Tony, and the late Janet, among others, and beloved dog dad of Speights.

In accordance with Ian’s wishes, a private cremation has been held, and a celebration of his life and the scattering of his ashes will be held at his Tinkertown home from 2pm on Sat, 15 July 2023. All welcome.

Sincere thanks to Hospice Southland and the District Nurses for their care of Ian over the past two years. Special thanks to Ross for his unwavering support of Ian, and for taking on his beloved dog.

May his will to live, even in his final weeks, serve as a reminder to us all to never give up.
