So sorry to learn of Mern's death. It is very sad.
Mern was a valued member of the Fiordland Lodge team for 2-3 seasons when he decided to retire properly. No task was too menial for Mern in his role as maintenance person and gardener. When Mern applied for the position I asked him to bring his CV. He brought some photos of the Dipton house and farm. He had high standards and showed great attention to detail. He was happy to work away on his own, but also enjoyed mixing with our staff and our guests. He became a good friend to Ron and I and was always interested in our children Madeleine, Christie and Boyd.

Please note I have prior commitments in Dunedin and will be unable to attend Mern's funeral. Farewell good friend.
