THOMAS, Stephen Russell. Peacefully at Invercargill on Monday 8 July 2024, aged 77 years.  Loving companion of Lorell, dearly loved father and father-in-law of Jamie and Jessica Thomas (Rangiora), and Michelle and Warrick Roberts (Drummond).  Loving grandfather of Amonet and Milan Thomas; Thomas, Richie and Hannah Roberts; loving Grandad Stephen to Lorell Junior.  Eldest son of John* and Betty* Thomas, brother of Liz Douglas, and Paul* Thomas.  Uncle of Nikki Douglas and Michael Douglas. Brother-in-law of Warwick Douglas, Helen and Arthur* Ischia and Maree and Russell Jones.  Friend of Rae.  Loving companion of “Bob” and good friend for many years of Lex. (* denotes deceased). A service to celebrate Stephen’s life will be held at J Fraser & Sons Chapel on Wednesday 17 July at 2pm followed by refreshments, then to Southland Crematorium. 

 

Since 1995 Stephen has been wearing red socks as a tribute to the “lucky red socks” campaign for Kiwi yachties.  Jamie and Michelle would love to see everybody wearing red socks at the service.
