I was saddened to hear of the passing of Father White over the weekend. His priestly vocation had a huge impact on my family from our days in Tapanui where he baptised me and my siblings, taking mum for instruction in the faith, attending my sisters final profession to the Carmelites in CHC. He stood and spoke at my dads funeral service in Dunedin and in May he prayed with mum over the phone, while she was dying. What a good and faithful servant of the Lord. We have always felt he was part of our family. Rest in peace Blackbird, your eternal reward is at hand. Deepest sympathies to Fr Maurice's family.

Rest easy dear Fr Mo. You are now with the one you served so faithfully. I will miss our spats but i will continue to admire the fence so beautifully painted by your good self!!! Thank you for your friendship and care… to my family and to me. You will be in our prayers and memories forever. Give Poppa the biggest hug from me. Thank you, Fr. Mo’s special family. My love is with you all at this time and always. You are all in my prayers and my heart. God bless. Carole

Fr. White. What a great man of faith in action. You were priestly in your instruction of our mum Joan into the Catholic church, and baptizing her five children. You were courageous in your instruction of our father to recognize his marital and parental responsibilities. You never left our family and inserted yourself amicably into a less than Catholic environment of people who fondly called you Blackbird. I was privileged to nurse you in your recent years. May you rest in peace knowing you made a difference. I am sorry I missed your service. May you rest in peace forever. You lived your faith in action. Teresa Renton
