O’BRIEN, Francis Nicholas (Frank):

On Tuesday 29th October 2024, Frank passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family and closest friends, at Southland Hospital. Aged 64 years.

Very much loved husband and soulmate of Bronwyn. Adored and loved Dad of Ellen. Respected and loved father-in-law of Lutz. Amazing loving Grandad of Louie, and Jim.

Loved brother and brother-in-law of Jane and David, Mike and Christine, Daryll*, Jocelyn and Chris, Sharon and Neil, Janelle and Nigel*. Frank was a loved and respected uncle, cousin and a friend to many.

Bronwyn, Ellen and Lutz would like to thank Gwen and her team at Dunedin Oncology and the Southland Oncology Department for their care during Frank’s battle with cancer. Your support, humour and kindness, didn't go unnoticed.

A service to celebrate Frank’s life will be held in the Waiau Town & Country Club, 41 King Street, Tuatapere, on Monday 4 November 2024, at 1.00pm.

Frank will be resting at home from Friday 1st November, where you are welcome to visit.

Dear Bron and family. It's always the good one's, and Frank was certainly that - he (and the O'Brien family in general) was pretty special to the Peters family, and I will remember him as a gentle kind, humorous man who will leave an enormous gap in your family and the wider Community. Please accept my apologies for not attending (untimely back injury) I will be thinking of you all from afar, and tuning into the live stream (if that's available) much love Susan, David, Cameron & Darcy

My dearest Bronwyn and Ellen!
We are still in disbelief that Frank is not with us any more.
What a blessing that you spent the last weekend together with Louie, Jim and Lutz in the sunshine.
Egon and I are and will be always grateful for the love he showed Lutz when he came into your family
and all the professional experiences he passed on to him.
We will never forget Frank and already miss his friendly laugh or the thoughtful or funny conversations with him.
He lives on in Ellen and his two little grandsons.
That is the "power of family" - even when we are no longer on this earth, we will live on in future generations.
