We are leaving this message of very sincere condolence as we will be unable to attend Klaske's service on Monday. Klaske's unique ability to combine classiness and fun, and her positivity in every situation are the things we will miss most when we think of her. Our hearts go out to you, her family, whose loss is even greater.

Klaske was an elegant, stylish and fun lady. I didn't know her that well, but I always found her to be open, inquisitive and interested in others. She will be sadly missed.

We lived across the world from each other. We did have lots of conversations on the phone and we received plenty of letters filled with little surprises from you. You were a light in a dark tunnel and I will forever be grateful to you for being the wonderful person that you were. We will remember you fondly and pray for you. Deepest Condolences to your family and friends.

I was a 10year old child when Klaske Egbertje joined our family. I vividly recall the excitement of meeting this young woman with the exotic name ... but per her sister Frankie, known to us always as "Betty". For many years Betty was a much loved part of our family, and when at last I met Jack and heard of their life together in N.Z. I felt real joy for her. The sadness I feel at Betty's passing is sincere and heartfelt.
My love and condolences go to Kyle, Ilsa, Lauren, Mali and their families, and to Michael and Ruth also.

Condolences to Kyle, Ilsa, Lauren and Mali and family. Betty, our sister-in-law, was always colourful, elegant and so very interesting. We came to know her more closely when we moved to Darwin in 1975. We were excited for her when she started her business, Showcase Interiors, and still own the quality furniture and bedding which Betty sold from her shop. Dinners with Betty and Gary were unique, gourmet and a lesson in fine foods.
It's been a few years since we last saw Betty, but know she was really happy being married to Jack, and subsequently, her new life in NZ.
We will always remember Betty.

Living in Manapouri was some of the best years of my life. Being my favourite mother in law and knowing I was her favourite daughter in law, she taught me so much, from picking and bottling fruit, making jam and showing me a hundred ways to cook venison. Klaske was a wonderful Beppe to Lauren and cherished her time with Lauren in her early years. Klaske was a huge support to me during one of the most harrowing times of my life. I will miss you so much Klaske❤️

Goodbye Klaske. So sad to learn that we will no longer meet you unexpectedly somewhere around, most likely the supermarket car park. You were a wonderful person, full of personality, fun and flair. We loved your sense of humour. You were a wonderful wife to Jack, sharing his interests and his faith. You will be reunited with him now, at peace both of you. So sorry we could not be there to farewell you on Monday. Much love to all the immediate family, and to Jack's family, as you mourn Klaske's loss.
Thank you Kirsty for your letting us know.

Klaske (nee De Jong) Murrell known to my family as ‘Betty’ was to us a valued member of our family both whilst married to our bother Gary and during the years that followed. She was a vibrant, vivacious person who lit up the room. As a nurse in Darwin she and Gary, a skilled swimmer, met when he slipped from a high-diving board during a Navy swim comp’ breaking his arm and they married later in Darwin. With a voice for song she joined us around the piano played by our mother Joy and I remember particularly her beautiful rendition of ‘Mary’s boy child’. She too had a wonderful, refined speaking voice. With an aptitude for mathematics she won as a student a scholarship to prestigious Perth Modern School; a college attended also by Prime Minister Bob Hawke earlier. Her culinary skills were legendary and any meal was festive, lively, presented with flair and inspiration and absolutely delicious. I extend my heartfelt condolences to her beautiful children Kyle and Ilsa, grandchildren Lauren and Mali and great grandchildren Mazhar and Akilah. With love and respect to all those close to her: family, friends and colleagues.
