The stags are roaring, Fiordland’s calling, and one thing will be missing this year. With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Alex, of his beloved Waimahaka, with his family at his side. Alex was a dearly loved husband of Jan for 50 years. Loved father of James and Jenny, and and father-in-law of Kathy and Nick. Adored Pop of Jaynee. Loved son of Jim* and Daphne*. Loved brother and brother-in-law of Tish and Don* Graham, and Margaret and Dick Shanks, Clive* and Brenda, Ross* and Fay, and Barbara Adamson. Loved uncle of his nieces and nephews. A dear friend and mentor to so many. Special thanks to Anne and Helen, and Hospice Southland District Nurses Wendy and Sarah. A service to celebrate Alex's life will be held in Waimahaka Hall on Friday 28 March at 2pm. Private burial to follow at Fortrose Cemetery. Please feel free to wear your favourite cap or hat. Jan, Jenny & James, Alex was such a spark of a man that we were lucky to have better our childhoods. On top of being a great storyteller, he was such a warm listener to others’ stories. Elliot & Simon
