My thoughts are with the Duston family at this sad time. I have very special memories of Dave - firstly as a relatively new Dental Nurse appointed to South School where Dave was principal. He made my time there very special. After I left Invercargill to move to Arrowtown I was again lucky enough to once again connect with Dave and remember him at Autumn festival time dressed up as the Local Policeman. Lots of laughs when as part of the Buckingham Belles we would give him a lot of cheek - I remember a lovely photo of us together in the Parade was published in the Southland Times. A lovely man who I had the utmost respect for. Take comfort in the memories you will have of a loving husband and father.

Please accept my sincere condolences on the death of Dave. His legacy as an educator, family man and a genuine member of the community has left an incredible and lasting legacy. May his family be comforted through the day’s ahead by knowing he has left within you all his love and strength.

Dear Lois,
Thinking of you and family very much at this sad time as you mourn the loss of Dave - a much loved husband, family man and colleague of so many in the teaching fraternity. The months ahead for you will be very different without Dave but the love and support you have from family and friends will hopefully be a comfort and support.

I have strong memories of Dave as a mentor and guide during my early years of teaching, at the then Lithgow Intermediate School in the early 70s. Christine was a pupil there at that time and Heather and Dave often hosted staff at there home just a block or two along from the school.
