WOOD Illona Maree (nee Blomfield)


Courageously after a short illness Illona passed away at Christchurch Hospital, surrounded by her family on Wednesday 2nd April 2025, aged 55 years.
Dearly loved and precious daughter of Alison and the late Philip (Phil) Blomfield.
Loved, cherished and precious mum and friend of her daughters Samantha and Zoe.
Treasured and loved sister of Michael and Marlys, Gregg and Alison, and Lisa and Frank Dawson.
Loved Partner of Kelly Baggott.
Much loved Aunty of her Nieces and Nephews, Brandon, Nathan, Michael, Samuel, Leah, Timothy and Claudia.
Loved friend to many.
Family sincerely thank the staff of Ward 8B at Christchurch Hospital for their dedication care and compassion for Illona.
A Memorial service for Illona will be held on Tuesday, 15th April 2025, 1.30pm in J Fraser and Sons Chapel, corner Esk and Doon Streets, Invercargill.

Courageously after a short illness Mum passed away at Christchurch Hospital, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday 2nd April 2025, aged 55 years.
Gorgeous and adored Mum of Samantha and Zoe. Mum was the best mother to us. She showed us kindness, strength and was a devoted Mother above all else. We thank her for bringing us into adulthood and raising us to be the women we are.
We sincerely thank the staff of Ward 8B for their dedication, care and compassion for our Mumma.
A Memorial service for Mum will be held on her birthday Tuesday ,15th April 2025, 1.30pm in J Fraser and Sons Chapel, corner Esk and Doon Streets, Invercargill.
Everyone is welcome and we encourage everyone to wear their colours.

I'm so very very sorry for the loss of Illona. Words of condolences just seem meaningless when one so young is taken in their prime.
I have known Illona since high school and kept in touch via Facebook. I will miss that beautiful smile and great sense of humor. Illona loved BIG and impacted on so many of us, even from afar.
My thoughts and prayers are of you all, as well as Illona's closest friends and extended family, work colleagues and old school friends. May you all draw on the strength of one another over the coming days, weeks and months, remembering the love and life Illona shared with each of you.

There is a bright bubbly new star in the sky. We knew you a short time but the 6am gym sessions made it feel like a lifetime. You were a reason for me to get out of bed to boogie & laugh the gym sessions away. We clicked after that first long coffee session and had many more since.
