RIP Mum
I remember the day my dad introduced me to you and you took us under your wing and protected us. You gave our family so much love and guidance as we grew into young adults. We were lost souls however you gave us a home and another family and another new brother Alan who is the apple of everyone’s eye. I am so proud of him and how he has made an amazing tribute for you. It’s your time to rest. Love you

Offering our condolences on behalf of the Otago-Southland Shirley Group. Shirley was a lovely, cheeky lady with a heart of gold and we enjoyed her company at our gatherings over the years. May you draw comfort from the many happy memories you shared of her most remarkable life. God Bless

She carried her burden effortlessly
A child in her arms,
a child before her,
a child beside her
and a child behind her.

She led and followed with soft feet,
nurturing hands
and a longbow at the ready.
She could catch, throw, aim and
plough.
In spring she danced
with the children in the fields,
trailing petals from the flowerchains
she crowned us with.

She watched everything quietly.
Her corn grew tall.

When we raise our goblet hands
to drink the clear, crystal waters
flowing free in our pastures.
we know who we are.

We are your family.
Imogene, Wellington

Dear Peter, Marie, David, Steven and Alan
My sincere love and deep feelings thinking of you at this time. Your mum was awesome. Shirley was a favourite friend of mums (Esme) for all those years. I remember fondly going to your place when I was little, and hanging with the Wilmshurts and the Finnies, sometimes getting up to no good (usually Stevens fault). I watched Shirleys farewell stream, I thought Jayne and I were the only ones who snuck out the window.
I loved being around Shirley and her whanau. Shirley had a way that made me feel understood, warm, and inviting. Much aroha...Patricia
