Ian was our club Patron, Life Member and a past President three times. On behalf of The Southland Society of Model Engineers I offer our deepest condolences to Ian's family and we are grateful to Ray for bringing Ian around the club in his later years allowing Ian to 'talk shop' with fellow modellers and reminiscing with others. Ian was an amazing craftsman with both metal and wood, able to turn his hand to any project and complete it with his usual high level of skill. Ian was a huge contributor to our club since he first joined in 1946 and again in 1970 remaining a member till his passing on Thursday. Rest in Peace Ian, a modeller and a member, whose memory and models will live on within our club for many years to come.

Although we lived a world apart we have very fond memories of 1993 when we met and spent a lovely time together. His kindness and attentiveness made that time special. A very special man.

To the Sinclair Family, I had the privilege to work alongside Ian at Geo. W. Wilson and Sons for many years. I respected Ian very much. Very lucky to still have some furniture he made for me. Growing up in Grasmere I also knew your lovely Mum. Thinking of you all at this sad time, memories are forever. Take care, Nicola Galloway (nee Peters)
