Deepest sympathy Viv, Tom & family, I remember helping coach the kids at Garston school & Brendan was an incredibly talented sports person who gave everything a thousand percent with a smile on his face, I enjoyed catching up with him as adults & my son Ollie enjoyed working with him at Bill & Beth's. Such a sad loss of a lovely guy. Sending hugs. Rachel Naylor

Condolences to the McNamee family.
I have many memories of playing with Brendan as a kid, too many to list here.
But he was fun loving, always up for a laugh, mischievous, a very talented sportsman ( could leap right over the box in gymnastics) and just wanted to be apart of the action. He continued to have all those qualities in high-school also.
He was someone who really cared for his friends and family, he worked hard for people and his sensitive soul was admired by many.
The light in Garston has dimmed a little with your passing Brendan.
Rest in peace.
Clare OBrien, DARGAVILLE
I first met Brendan at the wakatipu high school stadium back in 2003 when he was playing for the wakatipu men's netball team. He was welcoming. Funny and soon become a really good friend. We had some great times partying, dancing into the night (for a gay guy he could dance better than most!!) and he always walked me home.
On the court he was fast and feared and damn right bossy. And very talented. He lead by example and you could always hear his laugh a mile away.
Thank you for the memories. May you rest in peace my friend. Sorry I can't be there to say goodbye. Dance like no one's watching and laugh like never before.

I had only recently met Brendan at a party in Athol but he made such an impression on me I was looking forward to seeing him again. His kindness, inclusive behaviour and wonderful energy just radiated from him (not to mention his great dancing!). I made a point that night of telling him how happy I was to have met him and I only wish our paths had crossed much sooner. My heart goes out his family and friends who loved him and were loved by him. I'm so sorry for your loss.
