CAPIL, Wilma Raey née Soper

Surrounded in love, Wilma passed peacefully on Saturday 16 May 2026, at Vickery Court Resthome, Invercargill, with family by her side.

Beloved wife of the late Gordon Stewart Capil. Loved mother and mother-in-law of Jackie and Roger Paterson (Invercargill), and David and Shelley Capil (Kaiapoi).

Loved sister and sister-in-law of Doreen* and Percy* Cribb, Neil* and Heather Soper, Eunice* Soper, Gordon and Elizabeth Soper and Elaine* Coster, Edna* and Dougal* Soper, Ivan* and Francis* Capil, Noeline and Bruce* Freeman.

Much loved Nana Capil of her grand and great grandchildren. Respected Auntie Willie of her nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate Wilma’s life will take place on Thursday 21 May 2026, in J Fraser & Sons Chapel, cnr Esk and Doon Streets, at 10am, followed by a private interment at Eastern Cemetery.

Donations to Vickery Court Activities Programme would be appreciated and may be left at the service.

Remembering Wilma with love and much appreciation for all her contribution to our Methodist church and the community she shared so much with.
Wilma supported the Methdist Womens Fellowship, locally and Nationally.
Her friendly nature was valued by us all.

Have many great memories of Wilma at Surrey Park School. Her role as PTA President displayed her organisational skills, she was a little firecracker. Wilma was involved with the Methodist Church and was always there working and encouraging others.
Thoughts go to her family at this time.
