Murphy, Terence Eugene (Terry)

Passed away peacefully at home with his wife by his side on Saturday 23rd May 2026. Aged 82 Years.

Devoted and loving husband of Cheryl.

Treasured father, father-in-law and friend of Anita*, Latesha and Jordan, Sarah and Cody.

Adored Pop of Kaydie, Jesse, Willow, Laurent, Trelise, Austin, Zoe, Raine, and Amaiya.

Loved son of Thomas* and Anne*

Loved brother and brother-in-law of Kevin and Wendy, Judith, and Dianne.

Respected colleague, and friend to many. R.I.P.  The family wish to thank Southland Hospice, Dr Khan and Kirsty of Waikiwi Medical Centre, Southland Hospital, and The Royal District Nurses that all cared for Terry.

Requiem Mass to celebrate and honour Terry’s life will be held 11am, on Saturday 30th May 2026 at St Theresa of Lisieux Church, Perth Street, Invercargill. Private cremation to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice South are appreciated.

Very sad to hear the passing of such a great man. I worked with Terry at one Manawatu prison for a number of before he left, He was a man of great stature physically and morally. My thoughts go out to all affected by the loss of such a man, none more so than his family. Rest in peace Terry.
