SOPER, Elizabeth Sue (Liz)

Liz passed suddenly after a short illness on Sunday 31st May 2026 in Dunedin Hospital, surrounded in comfort and love with family by her side.

Dearly loved wife and soulmate of Winston (Sam). Treasured mum of Gemma and Mescha, mother in law to Ben and adored grandmother (Bimbi) of Hunter and Evie. Loved by her sister, brothers, nieces and nephews, and the wider Soper and Frampton families.

A service to celebrate Liz's life will be held in the Athol Hall on Wednesday 3rd June at 1.00pm followed by her burial at the Athol Cemetery and we welcome guests to honour her with a touch of colour.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Plunket which Liz dedicated so much of her time to, would be appreciated and may be left at the service. Messages to PO Box 19, Athol, Southland 9749

My sincere sympathy to you all from a Plunket friend from years ago at the time of selling Henry Street in Queenstown. Us Dipton ladies so enjoyed her company and we had fun times together .

We were so sorry to hear of the loss of Liz- such a lovely lady with her gorgeous smile and personality. Having a wine (with icecubes) in the Athol Shop won't be the same without Liz across the table to chat to. Our deepest condolences to you and the family Winston, and so sorry we can't be there tomorrow. Much love from Ange and Steve (Athol Post Office) xx

I am so sorry for your loss. Your mum was such a lovely, wonderful and special person. She always made me feel like family, whether we were sharing holidays together or simply spending time at her home. She had a way of making everyone feel welcome, valued and cared for.

I will miss her deeply and will always remember her kindness, warmth and generosity.
