It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved papa, George Hori Paru Ratima, on Tuesday, 7th July 2026, in Winton, Southland.
Whānau
Parents: Beloved son of George Hori Paru Te Ratima Ratima and Te Aira Ratima (Tahana).
Siblings: Loved brother to Smithy, Blundell, Edward (deceased), Maureen, Karen, Merle, Richard, Raymond, Ida, and Hoki.
Partner: Cherished partner of Barbara Taukamo.
Children: Dearly loved father of George, Leonard, Sarah, and Sonny.
Extended Whānau: Dearly missed grandfather, uncle, friend, and whānau member to many.
Tangihanga / Lying in State
George will lie in state at 12 Bute Street, Winton, from Friday, 10th July 2026, to Monday, 13th July 2026.
Rā Nehu (Funeral Service Details)
The funeral service will take place on Monday, 13th July 2026 at 11:00am at the Memorial Hall, Winton.
1:00 pm: Burial at the East Winton Cemetery, Devereux Road.
Kai Hākari
Following the burial, the whānau warmly invite everyone to gather for the kai hākari at the RSA Hall to share memories and celebrate George's life.
