Passed away peacefully on the evening of Saturday, 19th September, 2026, aged 97 years.
Loved husband and soulmate of Brida*. Cherished father of Sarah and the late Michelle*, and Cushla*. Treasured and adored Dadda of Heath, Jake and Luke. Much loved Granddad of Hannah and Ben. Loved brother and brother-in-law of Mary* and Jack* Duffy, Pat* and Pat* Mellor. Gladys*, Brenda* and Reg* Knight, Michael* and Daphne Dyer all of the UK. A loved uncle of all his nieces and nephews.
Family thank the staff of Hawthorndale Care Village and Peacehaven Village for their dedication and care of Gerald.

Requiem Mass will be celebrated in St Mary's Basilica, 65 Tyne Street, Invercargill, on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 1.30pm. Interment at Eastern Cemetery will follow. Rosary will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 7.00pm, at St. Mary's Basilica. In lieu of flowers donations to either Hospice Southland or to St Vincent de Paul Society would be greatly appreciated and can be left at the service.
