To Ann and family
My thoughts and prayers are with you all while you are coming to terms with the loss of a great man. Much love to you all ♥️
Mary Gilbert , Invercargill
I never got to meet Merv but have followed his journey for about 8 years now.
I even have a photo of him in a hat I knitted.
I send my love too all affected by his passing. It was the right time for him, but those left behind are often stunned.
Your memories of him will all be different but treasure them , they are individual memories that I hope can be shared with love.
Memories are forever.

Merv will be up there riding those racehorses now, but not in any great hurry to pass the post first. RIP to a great man who was well loved by two great boys that I know of.
He will be missed.

We must remember a man with a an awesome smile and quirky sense of humor.
A man who loved not just his children but all those he took on as his own. Yes Merv was hurt by some of those said children but his love never changed.

We must also embrace the memories (good and bad) but focus and put our energies into the good.

Merv was a man who was not embarrassed about his looks, whether it was his long hair or a rope to tie his trousers up at his wedding to Ann – Merv was not going to change his ways just to be someone he knew he wasn’t.
Merv was a man to bring love and joy to the community he called home. The work in the community Gardens and Santa Clause and the pony rides are (were) all part of who Merv was.

I believe if we are to learn anything from Merv’s life, it is to love with no conditions and to live life naturally and not as someone who feels they have to be someone special to please. Merv was special as Merv was natural
RIP Merv
