What wonderful tributes for Don at his funeral which I watched on livestream. Dot, your family are a real credit to both you and Don. What a pleasure hearing how everyone who spoke recognised Don as one of life's gentlemen. Our thoughts are with you all today. With much love Kay Ward nee Tressler with fond memories of life at the Fire Station Flats.

To Aunty Dot and Family. Uncle don will certainly be missed by us all. It was great hearing my cousins speak and tell a few stories. Brought back a lot of memories that I can relate to and certainly a few tears. He was a great man and I have many fond memories of him dating way back, and up until recently. I'm glad we got to see him a few weeks back, as being in Auckland we are now completely isolated and just can't be there. I'm sure Mum and Dad would have loved to be there too. Hopefully Cheryl and I will get back down soon and see you then. Love to all.

Thinking of you all at this sad time, with my deepest sympathy. Don was a loved and respected nephew to my mum.

I was sad to learn of Don’s passing and recall with great fondness my days growing up at the Fire Station flats with the Clode family (particularly Raewyn who is around my age), the Ide’s, Butler’s, Cowan’s and Greenyer’s. I can still see in my mind’s eye Mr and Mrs Clode, Jennifer, Denise, Geoffrey, Raewyn, Murray and Neville. As a young girl I recall being in total awe of your large and happy family - always lots of fun being had! They were special times to be a part of and witness to - please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Christine Heywood, Flat 3, Fire Station.
