We are so sorry to read of Charlie's passing. Such a lovely man and a wonderful neighbour to my late parents. We enjoyed "catching up" with him when we visited Walmsley House with our singing group. My Uncle Charlie was a ‘Gid Yin’. He was a kind man, a true Scotsman with as broad a Scottish accent as the day he left Scotland for New Zealand in 1962. He liked a blether, he loved to reminisce about his home town of Stirling and his younger days with family. His family were so important to him and he loved every one of them to bits. He loved my Auntie Christine with all his heart and often told me that she was ‘The Love of his Life’. I am going to miss ‘Our Wee Blethers’ on the phone Uncle Charlie. Love you. X Norma

Charlie is remembered fondly by Winn and Jim Sherborne (aged 95 and 97 respectively) who were among the first people to speak to Charlie and Christine when they arrived in Invercargill from Scotland. The two couples became very good friends. Rest in peace.
