Poppa,
Hearing you whistle one of many tunes as you made your way to the pantry to grab a chocolate treat, making quick eye contact holding the treats up followed with a raise of your eyebrows was how you would ask if I would care to join you in your rebellious ways, while nans in the background preparing tea.
Whistling your way back to sit down to one of your favourite books, letting Alice the cat snuggle back into you while the dogs Hannah and Finn lay by your feet waiting for a crumb or two.
Forever remembered.
Forever loved.
Forever grateful to call you our Poppa ❤️
Love your girls Summer & Brooke

I'm so sorry to hear about Garth. He was a treasure of a man and my lasting memories of him at work always involve him standing out on the tearoom terrace, smoking his pipe and having a yarn with anyone and everyone. He also had the best collection of ties and trouser braces! I'll catch up with you soon Kiri, but please accept my deepest sympathy to you all.
Nicole Field, Hamilton
We worked with Garth at the regional council and he was one of the first people in New Zealand to offer a hand in helping us set up our lifestyle block. Always welcoming and with good advice given over a bowl of satisfying tobacco. Rest In Peace old friend

Garth was a special member of the Biosecurity Group at WRC, and our condolences are extended to Jean and family on their loss. Garth was a mentor for many, with his empathetic manner, friendliness and conciliatory ways. We are pleased that he enjoyed a number of years in retirement and could bring much joy to his family - his most valued possession. He was a quintessential Kiwi, and had a very pragmatic outlook which we all loved - Rest In Peace cobber.
John Simmons, Hamilton
To the Woodward family,
Sincere. Condolences to you all on the passing of Garth. As as work colleague at the Waikato Regional Council I always valued Garth’s worldly words of wisdom and his beaming smile.
