Merle was such a beautiful lady and I was so lucky to have had her in my life. I will be forever grateful for all the kindness she showed me over the time I knew her. I still have and use a knitting bag she made me and a pantyhose wallet. In my late teens I was flatting in Invercargill and got very sick with a chest infection. Merle and Gordon welcomed me into their home to stay until I was better. The lovely home cooked meals and loving care had me fighting fit in no time. She was a real gentle lady with a heart of gold. Sending my love to all her family and friends. May she rest in peace, free of pain.

Well you learn something everyday. I didn't know Merle's first name was actually Isabel until now. She kept that quiet. :)
My sympathies go out to Merle's close family and friends. She was such an awesome lady and I have fond and funny memories of her 'tolerating' Gordon's comments and crazy antics. Ever so polite she would just roll her eyes and tell him to settle down. The love of each other's lives.
I am glad you are now at rest and are no longer in pain. Lots of love Rach

I’m so sad to hear Merle has passed. She was such a lovely, caring, elegant lady who suffered through so much pain but always had a smile on her face. Even though we didn’t see each other often, I will miss her and she will always hold a special place in my heart. Take peace from her passing that she is now pain free and back with her beloved Gordon. My thoughts are with you all.

It was really sad news to hear of Merle’s passing. Please accept my sincere condolences. I will always treasure the fond memories growing up next to Gordie and Merle. Your dad was always full of mischief and your mum overflowed with grace and peace. RIP Merle.
