Beautiful man, was a joy to be around and play music with. Was always positive to the people around him and very light hearted. I will forever remember Rance.

Dear Joan and family, my sincerest condolences to you at this time. The Invercargill City Big Band members and I are devastated to hear of Rance's passing this evening. Rance was a fantastic player, mentor, and friend to us all. He was always so generous with his time and practices will not be the same without him. Sending all our love to you, Emma Jarman and the ICBB.

Rance, you were a true gentleman with a dry wit and you will leave a huge hole in the Big Band. Thank you for your kindness, devotion to the band and encouragement to us all. I will sorely miss your dad jokes at rehearsals 💔
