Bakker, Leendert Cornelis (Lane).

Died peacefully at Southland Hospital on Saturday 27th July 2019, in his 90th year. Dearly loved Husband of Mattie for 65 years.  Dearly loved Father and Father in law of Ronnie and Judy, David and Brenda (Dunedin), Patricia and Rex Chapman, and Gillian and David Bowie. Dearly loved Grandad and Opa of his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. At Lanes request a private service and cremation has been held. We would like to sincerely thank the wonderful staff at Southland Hospitals Medical Ward for their outstanding care of Lane over the past 4 weeks. Mattie and Family, my heart breaks for you on the loss of Lane. A great man he was - I first met Lane when I joined Lions International many years ago. I always enjoyed Lane's company whether it be at Lions or at the Food Plaza - I well remember him trimming the brussel sproats. Both Lane and you made a great life in Invercargill, raised a great family, and Lane was an icon in the grocery business - from memory the first to create/start a supermarket! So long Lane, thanks for the great times we had.
