So sorry to read of Jo's passing , you will all be devastated and I extend my sympathy and love . I worked with Jo as a caregiver for a number of years and always marvelled at the amazing care and compassion she showed to all clients , some of whom were challenging . As a workmate she was fantastic , such a glorious " naughty " sense of humour ! . The thing that underpinned Jo' s life was the love and pride she felt for her family , you all meant the world to her . She will be greatly missed but I hope the wonderful memories you have will bring you peace .

My Tribute to Josie's passing is so unexpected and sad. I went to primary school at the Tahakopa School from Primer 1 to Standard 6 and we both played together after school most days.
Jo went off to high school in Oamaru and I went to Dunedin.
The Sir Truby King Railway Bridge Walking Track follows up beside the Tahakopa River, and intern it looks over to your old farm with great memories.
Rest in peace Jo,
from Eleanor Sinclair (nee Martin)

Condolences to the family of Jo. Pleasant memories of Jo & Jim from way back in the 70s when life was uncomplicated. Remembering your free spirit Jo.

I have very happy memories of Jo's friendship at OU's Dominican Hall in Park Street from 1968 when we were both students and singing together at the OU Folk Club with friends from Invercargill like Paul Johnson. Then we formed a Folk Group called "Minglewood" in the early 70s. It was with this group that we made a reasonably polished one-off record produced by Split Enz's first manager, Barry Coburn, with Jo singing a stunning version of the lead in "Scarborough Fair" on the B-side, with me filling in the alto parts and Peter Madill and Mike Pelvin providing the guitar and mandolin accompaniment.

The last time I saw Jo was at Liz Johnson's 2014 Invercargill funeral, where she sang an impromptu, poignant take on "You Are My Sunshine" for Liz's farewell. I was very pleased that she had kept in touch with Liz during the intervening years. This was much appreciated by Liz and the Johnson whanau.

We are very sad to hear of Jo’s passing. We have wonderful memories of zJo alongside Sally Lee, Marg Cartner, Lois Brown and me Julianne Weir flatted together in Clarendon St in 19669. We had a very social time at balls, concerts, parties and at college as well as time on Jo’s farm at Takopa.
Her sense of fun and adventure and especially her amazing singing voice will always be remembered. Rest In Peace with your gift of music Jo.

To Jo’s Family.
Please accept my deepest sympathy in the loss of Jo. I feel sad that I lost contact with Jo after leaving Teschemakers in 1965. Jo was a good friend while at Teschemakers and I have lovely memories of the our time there. A time that wasn’t always easy with the discipline and being away from our families.
I can imagine Jo as being a loving Mum and Grandmother. Once again my sympathies
Prayers and God Bless you all at this sad time.
School days I was from Ranfurly plus your late Aunt Di was at school with one of my older sister’s.
