Dear June & Family, So sad to read of Clive's passing. We had 30 years of friendship as teachers at SBHS. He was a highly respected teacher and rugby coach. He leaves a great legacy.
My thoughts are with you at this very sad time.

A wonderful teacher and legendary rugby coach. Clive (Mr. Williams) was old school, hugely respected at Southland Boy’s. “Men should learn to live with the same seriousness with which children play” – Nietzsche

To the loving family of Clive Williams.
I am representing the SBHS old boys' association in Christchurch.
Each of us has a treasured memory of Clive as an educator, rugby coach.
By example he showed young men the path to take to make a positive contribution to society. Sadly lost but never forgotten.

A short reflection:
I fondly remember Clive as my History teacher from 1969-1971, and then as a teaching colleague from 1978 onwards. I always appreciated his keen interest in me, his sense of humour, his choice turn of phrase and his encyclopaedic knowledge of just about everything! I always enjoyed my conversations with him.
Two pithy witticisms typical of him:
1969
Clive: Removed 6th History, take out a piece of paper!
Me: Are we having a test, sir?
Clive: Life is one big test, Riley!
1998
To my eldest son who liked wearing his jacket in class:
Are you expecting the monsoon, Riley?

So sorry to hear of Clive passing away he was such a well respected and devoted man who had an amazing sense of humour. I have so many awesome memories under his coaching at SBHS that still generate so much happy discussions with mates to this day. Thinking of you all
