Very sad to hear. I have many fond memories of fishing with Ron and conversations over a cuppa.

I have been blessed to have worked with Ron for many, many years. In times of chaos, Ron has been a quiet, calm 'oasis' for many; a man with strength and character who people could rely on for a listening ear; sensible advice; or. a big, reassuring smile. I shall miss his reassuring presence. My love and thoughts are with you, his beloved Ann; and all your family.

Dear Ann and family.
I am so so so saddened to hear that the lovely and amazing Ron has passed on. He was the most adorable man, with a heart of gold. I worked with him at the ymca and he welcomed me and encouraged my confidence in myself. He taught me how to fish and how to play pool and we had many games (where he always won haha) he always kept in touch and checked on how my kids and i were doing. He was just one of the best men I ever met. I am so guttered to know this beautiful man is not here anymore. But he will keep on taking care of everyone as he always did from up high. God bless you Ron. My heart breaks. Thankyou for showing me good men exist and for being such a role model for so many people including myself. You're a star! I miss you.
To Ann and family. I am so sorry for your loss. Sending you so much love to you all in this difficult time.

Such a sad shock to read of Ron’s sudden passing today. I worked with Ron at YMCA Education and he was such a great guy, never angry, very wise with his words of advice, always respected by students and staff alike, A true gentleman RIP Ron.

Such a devastating loss. I always called you Mr Giles lol I would run into you in so many different places and you were always happy to spare a minute to have a chat. You were such a kind and humble man and that is reflected in the life you led and the family you created. One of my best friends in my life mirrors your values. Trina, your dad is always going to be a part of you because he helped shape who you are.

'Ron..... A man who has given so much, to so many, us included, Ron's wisdom will be carried on in many of those he has mentored, loved and cared for, His smile was a reassuring one, especially when the world was falling apart, So very grateful for our times we got to see Ron and for that bit of advise when the challenges were hard,
Thanks Ron, you're truly an Oak who leaves a hole in our community, rest now,
to Ann our deepest sympathy to you and your whanau x
Katrina and David, Winton
I will always remember our occasional chats and greetings. Last time we discussed about taking my young person fishing and when I told you I haven't been to fishing...u told me that you will take me one day.

Dear Ron, You will be missed.
May your soul rest in peace.
