THOMPSON Roger Nelson

It is with great sadness that Paula and Ruby have to tell you all of Roger’s sudden passing on Sunday, August 14, 2022, at Dunedin Public Hospital. Aged 61 years.

He was so dearly loved and treasured by us both and he was very thankful for all the love and support which surrounded him from everyone during this last year.

Roger was the much-loved youngest son of the late Joe and Gwen Thompson.  A loved and admired brother and brother-in-law of Stuart and Helen (Gold Coast), Wendy and Peter (Auckland), Murray and Anne (Melbourne), Paula and Paul (Tauranga).

He was a loved Son-in-law of Syd and Bev Olive, loved brother-in-law of Vicky (Denver), Michelle and Peter (Invercargill), Clayton and Lou (Edendale).

He was a very cool Uncle Rog to the late Reece, Lydia, Emily, Matt & Juliette, Lauren, Austin, Kaleb, Tom, Joshua, Luke, Ella, Tyler, Johanna, Kaitlyn and a very proud great uncle of Freya, Hudson, and Bump.

He was a loved nephew and a loved cousin.

A service to celebrate Roger’s life will be held at the Salvation Army Centre, De Joux Road Winton on Saturday 20th August at 11.30am. Followed by a private cremation. Messages to 133 Beatties Road, RD1, Gore. 9771

Legend uncle Rog,

Have always been so proud to call you my cool uncle! Loved growing up watching you in your element in Rodeo and out fly fishing! Will cherish all the family memories spent together especially the one of Reece and I catching our first ever trout with you by the river!

Will miss your cheeky grin and those beautiful, warm Thompson blue eyes. You always made us feel so relaxed and we could just be ourselves with you. One of the most genuine, gentle and calm souls and you will be in my heart forever.

We will be here for your beautiful girls always and I know you will be forever with them!

Sending so much love and strength to you Aunty Paula & Ruby. Wish I could be there with you and the family tomorrow and will be thinking of you.

Love Emily, Hudson and bump x
