My heart is broken, my friend is gone. She fought so bravely for her life this past year, she tried everything, but the deep rooted cancer took her anyway. 😞
Melinda Redman and I met 25 years ago in Australia, we shared a room, in a long term hostel on Enmore Rd in Sydney for 6 months. I had hit rock bottom as a traveller, was broke, and had just broken up with my boyfriend at the time.
Mel was exactly the kind of friend I needed, we didn't need money to have fun, we enjoyed each other's company.
We ate free food together at the Harikrishna place, and discount meals at the Retired Servicemen's Club, chatting and dancing with the old folk, went to drumming circles, played scrabble in the park, explored and hung out in old graveyards, went dancing when we had enough money, and shared whatever we had in our tiny room, she had the top bunk, I was at the bottom.

We journeyed together in a camper van from Sydney to Byron Bay for New Years Eve, 1998, a night I'll never forget, Suzanne Curphey was also there!

Over the years we kept in touch, she got married and had five children. I truly admired the way she mothered. She was a real Supermum, the wholesome old fashioned type. Her zest for life made her wake to capture sunrise everyday, she grew flowers and vegetables, she did all kinds of crafts and baking and fun adventures with her kids. She loved them with all she had to offer, which will hopefully last them a lifetime.
Mel was soft, kind hearted, and so accepting of other's shortcomings, even when it was to her own detriment. She loved so fully, without judgement.
My heartfelt condolences goes out to Stephen Redman , her children, her sisters and her mom. Loosing two family members in a month is almost too much to bare. I pray you all find peace and acceptance knowing Melinda and her Dad are in eternal peace and love together.

RIP my friend, thank you for your friendship, M&M's, until the end... 🤍🤍🤍

A beautiful, caring, kind lady. A wonderful Mother to her beautiful children. She will be missed by so many. My heartfelt sorry to her Mum, Sisters, Children and Husband, Family and Friends. I loved seeing Melinda's posts on Facebook where she posted lots of pics of her beautiful children and their day to day adventures. Melinda was always doing something with her children - teaching them cooking skills and meal preparations, craft, walks, the many parks around. I certainly will miss all her posts and the pics.

I remember the night Mel met Stephen. We were out for the night in Balmain, and she went up to him to ask why he was out alone. Skip forward a few years and we know how well that worked out.

I had the privilege of spending years with Mel in Sydney, and some time in London as well. Her cheeky mischievous grin would usually mean we were out for some fun adventures! Always with a warm and welcoming heart, constantly looking for ways she could help her friends. Her free spirit with the biggest heart will live on in Stephen and the kids. So glad she found you Stephen, and that you were all blessed with such a large and happy family. Mel always wanted to have a family!

My thoughts are with you all, and I'm glad to know her spirit lives on in you all xx

Your loved your children so much and made some amazing memories with them that they won’t forget.
